One of the most notable Founding Fathers of America, Benjamin Franklin was an American scientist, inventor, politician, philanthropist and business man. During the American Revolution, he served in the Second Continental Congress and helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776. He is the only Founding Father who signature can be found on every document that freed America from Britain, negotiating the 1783 Treaty of Paris that ended the Revolutionary War (1775-83). Incredibly Franklin is also credited as a delegate to the convention that produced the U.S. Constitution! Offered is a remarkable interest document issued as the elected President of the Pennsylvania Counsel, a position similar to a modern-day governor, authorizing Pennsylvania treasurer David Rittenhouse to issue a payment, dated April 11th, 1786. The certificate, issued in Philadelphia, is endorsed by Franklin who signs boldly, ”B. Franklin Presid." Signed during Franklin's service state side The addition of "Presid." relating this status of President of the Pennsylvania Counsel. With near mythical status the rarity of Benjamin Franklin signatures are one of history's hardest to find, making this stunning bold fountain pen signed document all the more remarkable at 200+ years old.
