Batman #1 (DC, 1940) (CGC 1.5 Cream to Off-White Pages) Presented is a “Holy Grail” item for many comic book collectors, Batman #1. The first comic dedicated exclusively to The Dark Knight! This 1940 issue is ranked on the 2019 Overstreet's Top 100 Golden Age Comics list at number four, and it’s popularity is raging! The story pits the Dynamic Duo against classic menaces including Professor Hugo Strange. Plus, the first appearances of The Joker and Catwoman (referred to as 'the Cat')! Also includes a 2-page retelling of Batman's origin. This book is one of only 121 unrestored copies to have been encapsulated by CGC, making it one of the most rare collectibles in the world. Batman had first appeared the previous year in Detective Comics #27, but the Joker and the Cat (Catwoman) make their debuts in this issue. The offered copy is bright and beautiful with normal wear for an 80-year-old comic. There is period tape on the cover and interior cover, which is barely noticeable. In this condition, CGC Universal 1.5, the comic currently has a fair market value of $72,000 but regularly sells for significantly over-market prices.
