Scarlet & Violet—151: chase cards, pull rates and most valuable cards

The chase cards of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—151 expansion, what each rarity tier means, sold prices as of November 3, 2026, and what TCGplayer's pack count found.

151 is a special Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion in the Scarlet & Violet Series, released on September 22, 2023. It brings every one of the 151 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region into the game, in Pokédex order: Bulbasaur is card 001 and Mew ex is card 151. Fourteen Trainer cards follow (152–165), and 42 cards are numbered above the main set (166/165 to 207/165), 207 in all. Twelve Pokémon ex lead it, among them Venusaur ex, Charizard ex, Blastoise ex and Mew ex, and in its Illustration Rares a single artist draws a whole starter evolution line. This page shows the chase cards, ranks the set by sold prices as of November 3, 2026, and sets out what the largest published pack count found. It is a reference, not buying advice.

The chase cards

The grid shows the twelve single cards with the highest ungraded prices as of November 3, 2026, counting only the regular set versions. Charizard ex #199, a Special Illustration Rare, is far ahead at $310.00 raw and $1,204.61 in PSA 10, more than two and a half times the next card, Blastoise ex #200 ($116.31). All five Pokémon ex Special Illustration Rares make the list; the other seven are Illustration Rares, led by Squirtle #170 and Charmander #168, which sell raw for about as much as Venusaur ex #198. Neither Trainer Special Illustration Rare and none of the three gold Hyper Rares makes it.

The rarity tiers

The main set (001–165) holds 66 Common, 62 Uncommon and 25 Rare cards and 12 Double Rares. Above it sit 42 cards in four tiers. Pokémon.com highlights illustrations in which one artist captures an entire evolution chain, and the API's artist credits show how: Bulbasaur #166, Ivysaur #167 and Venusaur ex #198 are all by Yoriyuki Ikegami, Charmander #168, Charmeleon #169 and Charizard ex #199 by miki kudo, and Squirtle #170, Wartortle #171 and Blastoise ex #200 by Mitsuhiro Arita. More on the people behind the cards is on the Pokémon card artists page.

  • One card on top. Charizard ex #199 is the only card above $120 raw. It also trades the most: about one ungraded sale and three PSA 10 sales a day.
  • Illustration Rares grade up the most. Charmeleon #169 sells for about eight times its raw price in PSA 10, and Psyduck #175 and Wartortle #171 for more than seven times. The Special Illustration Rares gain less: Charizard ex #199 about 3.9 times, Blastoise ex #200 about 4.3 times. In PSA 10, Charmander #168 ($541.35) is ahead of Blastoise ex #200 ($500.00).
  • One Pokémon, several cards. Charizard ex is printed as #006 (Double Rare), #183 (Ultra Rare, $36.91 raw) and #199; Mew ex as #151, #193 (Ultra Rare, $28.44) and the gold #205 ($24.99). Check the number on any listing.
  • What is left out. Promo, league and stamped versions and sealed products are not ranked. The same price list carries, for example, a Mew ex [Ultra Ball League] #151 at $7,500.00 raw and a Voltorb [Professor Program] #100 at $2,600.00, far above any regular card.
  • Graded vs raw. Whether a PSA 10 price is worth chasing depends on the odds of getting one and on the fees; Is it worth grading? works through the method with Venusaur ex #198 and Charizard ex #199 from this set, and PSA 9 vs PSA 10 covers what separates the two grades.

Pull rates

The Pokémon Company does not publish pull rates. The largest published count is TCGplayer's: to prepare for the September 22, 2023 release, the TCGplayer Authentication Center opened more than 1,500 booster packs, and its article (updated February 27, 2025) gives per-pack rates with 95% confidence ranges. These are estimates, not guarantees.

What the count says, and where reports differ

  • Where the hits sit. TCGplayer found Double Rares and Ultra Rares in the Rare slot, and Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares in the second Reverse Holo slot. The foil Energy sits in the last, Energy slot.
  • Charizard ex #199. The chance of this specific Special Illustration Rare in a given pack is 0.44%, about 1 in 225.
  • Against other sets. TCGplayer judged 151 as generous as Paldea Evolved and Obsidian Flames. Its secret-rare hit rate came out 1% better than Obsidian Flames, but within the confidence range, so probably natural variation; because 151 has more secret rares, the odds of any one specific card are a little lower.
  • A possible short print. Caterpie #172 was the only card whose rate fell outside its rarity's range: 0.17%, below the lower limit of 0.20%. TCGplayer says that could be chance or a short print.
  • God packs. Some packs hold the Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare versions of one starter's full evolution line. TCGplayer calls them so rare that they do not meaningfully change the odds; Kotaku reported that YouTuber Danny Phantump saw one demi-god pack in 1,300 packs.
  • Small samples disagree. Kotaku's September 21, 2023 review called the pull rates “rough”: its writer's 20 packs gave four ex cards and one Illustration Rare, and Phantump pulled a single Illustration Rare in 90 packs, where TCGplayer's 8.50% would predict seven or eight. Phantump needed 1,200 packs to complete the set. A few dozen packs can land far from the averages.
  • Per pack, not per box. All figures are per booster pack, and the per-card odds assume every card of a rarity is equally common.

Checklist before you rely on a number here

  • ☐ The price has a date: everything above is as of November 3, 2026, and prices move daily.
  • ☐ You are comparing like with like: ungraded with ungraded, PSA 10 with PSA 10, and the right card number (Charizard ex is 006, 183 and 199; Mew ex is 151, 193 and 205; Venusaur ex is 003, 182 and 198).
  • ☐ The card is the regular set version, not a league, Professor Program, stamped or jumbo printing.
  • ☐ Pull rates are per-pack estimates from a community count, not official odds.
  • ☐ Before grading, check the card against the modern pre-grading checklist.
