Paradox Rift: chase cards, pull rates and most valuable cards
The chase cards of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift expansion, what each rarity tier means, sold prices as of November 5, 2026, and what two published pack counts found.
Paradox Rift is a Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion in the Scarlet & Violet Series, released on November 3, 2023 (a day earlier in Pokémon TCG Live). It is built around the Paradox Pokémon of the Scarlet and Violet video games: hard-hitting Ancient Pokémon such as Roaring Moon ex and Sandy Shocks ex, Ability-driven Future Pokémon such as Iron Valiant ex and Iron Hands ex, and Trainer cards that support each side. Technical Machines return as Pokémon Tools that lend an attack. The printed set has 182 cards and 84 more are numbered above it, 266 in all. This page shows the chase cards, ranks the set by sold prices as of November 5, 2026, and compares the two published pack counts. It is a reference, not buying advice.

The rarity tiers
The main set (001–182) holds 81 Common, 54 Uncommon and 27 Rare cards and 20 Double Rares. Above it sit 84 cards in four tiers, which the official announcement describes as Illustration Rare Pokémon, Special Illustration Rare Pokémon and Supporter cards, full-art etched Ultra Rares and gold etched Hyper Rares. Some artists drew more than one card above the main set: Jiro Sasumo drew both Swablu #213 and Altaria ex #253, Ryota Murayama both Roaring Moon ex #251 and Professor Sada's Vitality #256, and Toshinao Aoki both Iron Hands ex #248 and Sandy Shocks ex #250. TCGplayer points out that no Generation I Pokémon appears in the higher rarities; Mewtwo ex is printed only as Double Rare #058. More on the people behind the cards is on the Pokémon card artists page.

Most valuable cards
Ranked by ungraded price, the value of a raw copy as pulled from a pack, with the PSA 10 value. Prices come from recent sold listings and change daily. Cards with the same ungraded price are ordered by their PSA 10 price: Minior #201 and Yveltal #205 both sell for $25.00 raw, and Joltik #196 and Iron Valiant ex #249 ($128.75 in PSA 10) both for $19.99. All values as of November 5, 2026.

- Groudon on top. Groudon #199 is the only regular card above $60 raw, and its PSA 10 price is the highest in the table. Its price page shows about one ungraded and one PSA 10 sale a day.
- Grading multiples vary. Groudon #199 sells for about 5.3 times its raw price in PSA 10, Altaria ex #253 for about 6.7 times and Aipom #211 for about 7.8 times. Maushold ex #233, an Ultra Rare at $18.00 raw, reaches $287.14 in PSA 10, about 16 times; that PSA 10 price is higher than every card in the table except Groudon and Altaria ex.
- One Pokémon, several cards. Garchomp ex is printed as #038 (Double Rare), #219 (Ultra Rare), #245 (Special Illustration Rare, $32.73 raw) and the gold #260 ($15.48 raw, $117.50 in PSA 10). Roaring Moon ex and Iron Valiant ex also come in four versions. Check the number on any listing.
- What is left out. Promo, league, Prize Pack, stamped and Cosmos Holo versions and sealed products are not ranked. The set price list also carries, for example, Professor Turo's Scenario [Professor Program] #171 at $175.00 raw, above every regular card, and a Doublade [Cosmos Holo] #132 at $79.09, above all of them except Groudon.
- Graded vs raw. Whether a PSA 10 price is worth chasing depends on the odds of getting one and on the fees; Is it worth grading? works through the method, and PSA 9 vs PSA 10 covers what separates the two grades.
Pull rates
The Pokémon Company does not publish pull rates. Two counts are published. TCGplayer's Authentication Center opened more than 8,000 booster packs to prepare for the November 3, 2023 release; its article by Peter Day (updated February 27, 2025) gives per-pack rates with 95% confidence ranges. DigitalTQ published a count of 570 packs on November 7, 2023, from its own pulls and unnamed third-party sources, recording nothing below Rare Holo and warning that its data may not be accurate. Both are estimates, not guarantees.
| Rarity | TCGplayer, any card | TCGplayer, a specific card | DigitalTQ, any card |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double Rare | 15.57% ± 0.76% (1 in 6) | 0.78% ± 0.19% (1 in 128) | 15.26% (87 pulls) |
| Ultra Rare | 6.64% ± 0.53% (1 in 15) | 0.24% ± 0.10% (1 in 421) | 7.54% (43) |
| Illustration Rare | 7.70% ± 0.56% (1 in 13) | 0.23% ± 0.10% (1 in 442) | 8.42% (48) |
| Special Illustration Rare | 2.11% ± 0.30% (1 in 47) | 0.14% ± 0.08% (1 in 712) | 1.93% (11) |
| Hyper Rare | 1.22% ± 0.23% (1 in 82) | 0.17% ± 0.09% (1 in 576) | 1.23% (7) |
- Double Rare: TCGplayer 15.57% ± 0.76% (about 1 in 6 packs); DigitalTQ 15.26%.
- Ultra Rare: TCGplayer 6.64% ± 0.53% (about 1 in 15); DigitalTQ 7.54%.
- Illustration Rare: TCGplayer 7.70% ± 0.56% (about 1 in 13); DigitalTQ 8.42%.
- Special Illustration Rare: TCGplayer 2.11% ± 0.30% (about 1 in 47); DigitalTQ 1.93%.
- Hyper Rare: TCGplayer 1.22% ± 0.23% (about 1 in 82); DigitalTQ 1.23%.
What the counts say, and where they differ
- Fewer top hits than earlier sets. TCGplayer found Special Illustration Rares in 2.11% of packs and Hyper Rares in 1.22%, against 3.13% and 1.92% in Obsidian Flames, about two-thirds of the earlier rate. Double Rares rose from 13.61% to 15.57%, so the odds of any card better than Rare stayed just above 30%.
- More cards to chase. Paradox Rift has more than twice as many Special Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares as Obsidian Flames or 151, so the odds of one specific card are lower still: 0.14% per pack for a given Special Illustration Rare, about 1 in 712.
- Where the hits sit. TCGplayer found Double Rares and Ultra Rares in the Rare slot, and Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares in the second Reverse Holo slot.
- No short print found. Every card TCGplayer pulled fell within the confidence range for a single card of its rarity, which supports treating all cards of a rarity as equally common.
- The two counts. For Special Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares the counts agree closely (1.93% and 1.23% in DigitalTQ's 570 packs). DigitalTQ's Ultra Rare and Illustration Rare rates are higher, 7.54% and 8.42%, outside TCGplayer's ranges; DigitalTQ gives no ranges, and its sample is about a fourteenth the size. Its rows, including Rare Holo at 75.96%, add to about 110% of packs without explanation, and it calls its own per-card rates unreliable.
- Per pack, not per box. All figures are per booster pack, and TCGplayer notes that personal results will vary.
Checklist before you rely on a number here
- ☐ The price has a date: everything above is as of November 5, 2026, and prices move daily.
- ☐ You are comparing like with like: ungraded with ungraded, PSA 10 with PSA 10, and the right card number (Garchomp ex is 038, 219, 245 and 260).
- ☐ The card is the regular set version, not a Professor Program, league, Prize Pack, stamped or Cosmos Holo printing.
- ☐ Pull rates are per-pack estimates from community counts, not official odds.
- ☐ For the next main set, see Temporal Forces; before grading, check the card against the modern pre-grading checklist.
