Temporal Forces: chase cards, pull rates and most valuable cards
The chase cards of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Temporal Forces expansion, what each rarity tier means, sold prices as of November 2, 2026, and what the published pack counts found.
Temporal Forces is a Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion in the Scarlet & Violet Series, released on March 22, 2024. Two Ancient Pokémon, Walking Wake ex and Raging Bolt ex, and two Future Pokémon, Iron Leaves ex and Iron Crown ex, lead it; Wugtrio ex and Farigiraf ex appear as type-shifted Tera Pokémon ex; and it brings back ACE SPEC cards, Trainer and Special Energy cards so strong that a deck may hold only one. The set has 162 cards in the main set and 56 numbered above it (163/162 to 218/162), 218 in all. Its most valuable card is not a Pokémon ex but an Illustration Rare Gastly. This page shows the chase cards, ranks the set by sold prices as of November 2, 2026, and sets out what the published pack counts found. It is a reference, not buying advice.

- An Illustration Rare on top. Gastly #177 is the only card above $60 raw and has the highest PSA 10 value in the table, $478.00, with about one PSA 10 sale a day.
- Grading lifts some cards far more than others. Gengar ex #193 sells for about seven times its raw price in PSA 10, and Gastly #177, Deerling #165 and Metagross #178 for about six times. The Ancient and Future Special Illustration Rares gain much less: Gouging Fire ex #204 about 2.8 times, Raging Bolt ex #208 about 3.4 times and Iron Leaves ex #203 about 4 times.
- One Pokémon, several cards. Each of the six Ancient and Future Pokémon ex in the top tiers is printed four times: as a Double Rare, a full-art Ultra Rare, a Special Illustration Rare and a gold Hyper Rare. Raging Bolt ex, for example, is 123, 196, 208 and 218; only #208 is in the table.
- Trainer Special Illustration Rares split. Morty's Conviction #211 ($51.16 raw, $284.00 in PSA 10) is the most valuable Trainer card; Bianca's Devotion #209 ($26.75) closes the table, and its PSA 10 sells only about once a week.
- What is left out. Sealed products and Prize Pack, staff, store-promo and misprint versions are not ranked. A Regional Championships Staff version of Explorer's Guidance, for example, is listed separately at $160.54 raw and a Roaring Moon misprint at $66.00. Check which version a listing shows.
- Graded vs raw. Whether a PSA 10 price is worth chasing depends on the odds of getting one and on the fees; Is it worth grading? works through the method and PSA 9 vs PSA 10 covers what separates the two grades.
Pull rates
The Pokémon Company does not publish pull rates. The largest published count is TCGplayer's: to prepare for the March 22, 2024 release, the TCGplayer Authentication Center opened more than 8,000 booster packs, and its article (updated February 27, 2025) gives per-pack rates with 95% confidence ranges. A much smaller count of 691 packs, published by DigitalTQ in an article dated September 16, 2026 and compiled from its own pulls and unnamed third-party sources, is shown only as a cross-check. Both are estimates, not guarantees.
| Rarity | TCGplayer, any card | TCGplayer, a specific card | DigitalTQ, 691 packs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double Rare | 16.83% ± 0.79% (1 in 6) | 1.12% (1 in 89) | 124 cards, 17.95% (1 in 6) |
| Ultra Rare | 6.67% ± 0.53% (1 in 15) | 0.37% (1 in 270) | 54 cards, 7.81% (1 in 13) |
| ACE SPEC Rare | 5.00% ± 0.46% (1 in 20) | 0.71% (1 in 140) | not counted |
| Illustration Rare | 7.72% ± 0.56% (1 in 13) | 0.35% (1 in 285) | 57 cards, 8.25% (1 in 12) |
| Special Illustration Rare | 1.17% ± 0.23% (1 in 86) | 0.12% (1 in 855) | 11 cards, 1.59% (1 in 63) |
| Hyper Rare | 0.72% ± 0.18% (1 in 139) | 0.12% (1 in 836) | 5 cards, 0.72% (1 in 138) |
- Double Rare: 16.83% ± 0.79% of packs, about 1 in 6; DigitalTQ 124 in 691 packs (17.95%).
- Ultra Rare: 6.67% ± 0.53% of packs, about 1 in 15; DigitalTQ 54 (7.81%).
- ACE SPEC Rare: 5.00% ± 0.46% of packs, about 1 in 20; DigitalTQ gives no ACE SPEC figure, so no marker is drawn.
- Illustration Rare: 7.72% ± 0.56% of packs, about 1 in 13; DigitalTQ 57 (8.25%).
- Special Illustration Rare: 1.17% ± 0.23% of packs, about 1 in 86; DigitalTQ 11 (1.59%, about 1 in 63).
- Hyper Rare: 0.72% ± 0.18% of packs, about 1 in 139; DigitalTQ 5 (0.72%).
What the counts say, and where they differ
- Where the hits sit. TCGplayer found Double Rares and Ultra Rares in the Rare slot, ACE SPECs in place of the first Reverse Holo, and Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares in the second Reverse Holo slot. Because an ACE SPEC does not take a slot from the other hits, one pack can hold an ACE SPEC, a Special Illustration Rare and an Ultra Rare.
- Fewer Special Illustration Rares. TCGplayer put the chance of any Special Illustration Rare at 1.17% per pack, against 3.17% in Paldea Evolved, 3.13% in Obsidian Flames and 2.11% in Paradox Rift, and a specific one at 0.12% (about 1 in 855). Its overall odds of a card above the main set were only a little worse than in earlier sets, around 16% per pack, but more of those hits are Ultra Rares and Illustration Rares.
- ACE SPECs change the verdict. TCGplayer wrote that if an ACE SPEC counts as a hit, Temporal Forces has the best pull rates of any normal Scarlet & Violet set, and if it does not, the worst.
- Where the counts disagree. DigitalTQ's 691 packs came out higher in every tier it counted, most of all for Special Illustration Rares: 11 cards, 1.59%, above TCGplayer's whole range of 0.94% to 1.40%. With so few hits, one or two cards move that figure a lot; its Hyper Rare rate, 5 cards, matches TCGplayer's 0.72% exactly. DigitalTQ's table also lists 793 cards for 691 packs without explaining the overlap, and it does not name its third-party sources, so it is the weaker of the two.
- Per-card figures are averages. TCGplayer's specific-card odds assume every card of a rarity is equally common; it says the rates it found for each card fit within that range.
- Per pack, not per box. All figures are per booster pack. A single box or Elite Trainer Box can land well above or below them.
Checklist before you rely on a number here
- ☐ The price has a date: everything above is as of November 2, 2026, and prices move daily.
- ☐ You are comparing like with like: ungraded with ungraded, PSA 10 with PSA 10, and the right card number (Raging Bolt ex is 123, 196, 208 and 218; Gengar ex is 104 and 193; Morty's Conviction is 201 and 211).
- ☐ The card is the regular set version, not a Prize Pack, staff, store-promo or misprint printing.
- ☐ The PSA 10 price rests on regular sales (check the sales column; “1 sale per week” is much thinner than “2 sales per day”).
- ☐ Pull rates are per-pack estimates from community counts, not official odds; specific-card figures assume equal numbers of each card in a rarity.
- ☐ Before grading, check the card against the modern pre-grading checklist.
